April 13

Spring fishing is in full swing.  The Salmon River is Running at 1800 cfs (cubic feet/second) and its perfect for us driftboats and experienced bank anglers. The water temp is coming up nicely now and the steelhead are spawning away.  We have been catching fish everywhere on the river.  With the water starting to warm look for more activity on the gravel and in the faster water.  Spawning activity brings some great opportunities to catch browns  and male steelhead trout that will lay behind the hens as they lay thier eggs in the redds.   A great tip for you steelheaders is to leave that hen on her redd and just take your time and watch what is going on behind her.  Sometimes as many as 5-10 males and browns will swim below the redds waiting to spread there seed over the redd or in the case of the brown trout eat the eggs as they tumble down stream from the redd. Now the male steelhead will also eat these eggs so don't listen to the old bird who says spawnig steelhead do not eat because it's an absolute LIE. Take your time to look around before you enter the water up to your waist because it will pay off for you.  We have the lake boats ready to go and brown trout fishing is already in full swing with browns up to 15 lbs and average fish from 4-7 lbs it looks like its going to be a beat of a spring for the big bad brownie.  We also have a lake boat over in NIAGRA AREA ,POINT BREEZE NY , WE WILL BE FISHING BROWNS, LAKERS, STEELHEAD, BASS, PIKE, WALLEYE, FROM NIAGRA TO SODUS BAY. All slring and summer long we are offering a 2 and 3 day package deal for Point Breeze and Port Ontario lake fishing so give us a call and book you trip now. We can handle family and corpprate outings alike so please call us for more info on this speacial and come spend sometime with us this summer and spring , Walleye is opening on the first sat in may and its going to be a hot one, we will be fishing Oswego for the 8-12 lb monsters and Lake Onieda for the eaters, and there are lots of them.  Some trips are ridiculous numbers. OK its time to take the family out fishin with the bald man,  we are always looking for new friends,,  315-298-4599 this number is gonig to be changed soon,  as we are gonig to drop our land line and go completly mobile and computerized. More pics from last few days and more info on lake fishing coming. We also have our web design almost ready and its been a longtime coming let me tell ya.   BE BACK SOON.

April 8

Well it seems as if winter will not let up on its grip , We have recieved a few inches and expect a few more before the day is out . I have just about had enough , it has been a very long cold season and I need a little sun and warmth in my day.The good news is the river has come back down and there are plenty of fish to keep us going ,the hatchery is loaded with steelhead and I think we will be seeing a bigger push up on the gravel this week. The brown trout fishing out on the lake has started with a bang, guys are limiting out in a short run.We are offering brown trout trips out on the lake so book your trips now also dont froget the walleye fishing , should be a great spring and im looking forward to being here for the late spring and summer fishing this year,

LOOK AT THE VERY BUSY SPRING DAY IN THE SCHOOLHOUSE POOL

APRIL FOOLS DAY

Fishing is a little challenging at the moment for most of the bank anglers but ok for most of us driftboats, Water has been up last few days and with the run off from Orwell and Trout brook, its very heavy below Pineville. There are lots of fish spawning and we are catching many drop backs so things are starting to happen, Over the last few seasons we have seen an increase in the number of drop back Steelhead in April and even May. The reason for this is the 1 Steelhead limit.  There is a great articlal in LOO MAGAZINE that will tell you all about it. This april should be the best we have seen in years and I'm counting on it. Ok back to painting beads.......sorry forgot camm last few trips...

march 24

Same old same old, The water temps still cold but fishing remaines good . We are not killing them but we are catching fish and some days are very good we are catching  fish that are crome bright from the lake and we are seeing spawned out fish as well. It just dosnt want to warm up here in the oswego county area, nights are down in the 20s and daytime is finnally getting into the 40s and 50s this week. We have had a few reports of brown trout being caught out in the lake so we are itching to get out there. All you who want to brown trout fish this spring we are runnig out of port ontario and also point breeze down near oak orchard river SO GIVE US A CALL ...AND DONT FORGET THE WALLEYE ,We are runnig a walleye special check it out BOOK 2 NIGHTS AND GET 40% OFF. HERE ARE SOME PICS FROM THIS WEEKS TRIPS

March 17

Fishing continues to be fair to good. We have days were the run off shuts them down but as a whole fishing is steady and getting better. We also have been seeing fewer browns over the last few days as they head back to the lake for there feasting activities on the spawning alwives along Lake Ontario shoreline. The lake is wide open and ready for the spring rush of sportfisherman and there yearly pursuit of the spring brown trout that inhabit the warm shoreline of the lake feeding on the masses of alwives(baitfish) that spawn at this time of year. This is some of the best fishing of the year and the flotilla of boats can be a sight like no other. Anyone that has ever fished for these football shaped browns will tell you its an addictive fishery. Year  after year we see the same people out there, and there is a reason why, its just plain fun. This type of fishing can be done in as small as a driftboat if the conditions are right and all precautions are taken and a few spoons and stickbaits can get you started , Its a great trip for the family and even very young children can handle the light 12-20 lb gear, so that being said call us and book a lake trip for some brown trout fishing this spring its a blast for the whole family and we will assure you a wonderful outing that the kids will never forget, Walleye are stacked in the streams ready to spawn and we will be waiting for them when they hit the lake ...

March 8

The last few days have been on the slower side but still good fishing , The temps are warming and the snow is melting so there is plenty of run off into the river so the temp of the water is very low and the fish do not like this,,,,,, The good news is there are dime bright fish coming in and the spawn is right around the conner. I really haven't seen many fisherman below the pineville bridge this week and thats where most of my fish came this week so get you're butts up here and cast a line , OK for the new people at thew site here we go, steelhead trips are booking right now and we have room in April and we also are booking brown trout charters on the lake and walleye fishing trips also , I will be staying home from Alaska this season by orders of wife so give us a call and we will fill you in on our great spring time fisheries, The fishing in our area is outstanding during the spring and summer ,we have WORLD CLASS ,      BASS,    WALLEYE ,   BROWN TROUT,    PIKE,  ON  THE BIG LAKE   AND LOTS OF STREAM FISHING FOR TROUT AND LETS NOT FORGET THE FINGER LAKES,,, CALL 315-298-4599  AND BOOK A TRIP FOR THE FAMILY....

march 4

VERY COLD LAST 3 DAYS, FINALLY BROKE THIS AFTERNOON.

We didn't put in till 8:30 due to slush from Orwell brook down. Bite was steady all day with a mix of fresh and older fish ,steelhead and browns. George and Don had a great day on the water with steady action and decent weather. Most of there fish came on the Jig and beads. Weather looks good for the next week

Feb 28                      BOOKING UP NOVEMBER GIVE US A CALL FOR THE BIG BROWNIES

Wow what a swing in temps over last 24 hr. From 50 to 10 this mornin, with a good breeze We had newbies in the boat today and it wasnt pretty, slush first few hrs then closed mouths the rest of the day for us anyway. Man im still thawing out my fingers, fishing spotty this weekend as a whole for us but that is a first for this winter fishing has been great and will get even better here in the next few weeks. Ice fishing continues to get better also ,sandy pond ice derbies all the month of march so dont miss out, still have steelhead dates and we also have time to take a few groups out ice fishing . 315-298-4599, Here is a pic of Rick martins biggest steelhead yet caught yesterday.

LOOK AT RICKS CONCENTRATION        NICE WORK RICK

FEB 13

Fishing is still great folks and it will only get better. We have had a lot of action on the jig this week and we have seen the helgramites starting to pop up so don't forget to bring the jig box with you on your next trip.  White seems to be the best color over the last week but that will change with the helgramites coming out, black and gold always a great combination during this time of year. We have seen a few redds on the river so things are starting to shift toward the spawn but there are always a few early fish spawning this time of year. Weekends are still packed with bank guys but the river is staying at 750 for a few more days so wading is a little harder for most. ICE FISHING has been great from ST Lawrence to Sodus Bay with some great catches of perch and walleye. Look for the perching to get better and better over the next few weeks as we get closer to ice out.  I will not be returnig to Alaska this spring so we will be doing walleye on Onieda and booking Lake Brown Trout Trips and so give us a call so we can get you out for your spring trip. Dont forget your turkey hunt and brown trout combo.  Looking forward to being back home for the summer.

FEB 8

Afternoon trip(round 2)

Fishing with a few new friends this afternoon ,Mike and Matt ,We started around 1pm so time was short so I put in at the Pineville launch and went right to the ACE. The wind was howling and the first 1/2 hr proved to be very slow, but things picked up fast with 10 fish in the next 30 min. We ended the afternoon with another fish in the sportsmans hole   . The fish were fresh and on the move ,we noticed more fresh fish moving over the last few days so I think with the nice weather coming up we will have some great fishing.  Give us a call and book your spring trip now.

FEB 7-8

Fishing has been good over the weekend if you can find a spot that isn't over crowded. Pierre joined me Sat. We didnt killem but did land 4 for 7 fish, the problem was we were fishing behind 20 boats it was a little crazy but we made the best of it. I also hit the lower river for a few hrs this morning  with a few friends and there were some dime bright fish moving and some nice browns caught so things look good for the up coming week. Temps will be in the 30's next week.  So fishing should be on the up side. Heading back out this afternoon for the evning bite

Feb 1

Fishing continues to be very good on the Salmon river , with the rise in the water we have been able to get away from the bank anglers , Along with the good nubers of steelhead there are lots of browns being caught , most of them surcoming to the float fisherman, We did fish the Salmon River Outfitters Steelhead Tourny along with 10 other driftboat capts and or guides, and 22 entrants, We didnt get the names of all winners but did get the boat capts names First went to Harry Powers boat and 2nd Went to Zeke Torrezs boat and we got honarable mention for 3rd biggest steelhead. As usual we had a blast and the weather was great if you like to freeze your azz off. We are looking forward to next years tourny. OK , Ice fishing is also hot from Chaumont Bay to Sodus Bay ,The perchin at sodus has been outstanding so get out on the ice, pike walleye, perch there all bitting. HERE ARE A FEW MORE PICS FROM THE LAST FEW DAYS

C MANS THIRD PLACE STEELHEAD                                     And Mikes first perch outing in NY,

Jan

Wow what a nice day to be on the river the temps were in the high 20s no wind and the fish were biting, who could ask for more.  Had 2 boats out today and both boats did very well, Brian Eastman and Jim Kelso have fished with me before and were in my boat again today.  Today was a little different for Jim he has been a fly fisherman all his life as alot of his friends on the salmon river will tell you he isnt one to change from something that works, but Jim decided to pick up a float rod today and I for 1 was very pleased to have him in my driftboat for his first float fishing trip.  He did manage to land 1 rainbow and missed a few but the pic of his fish did not come out , anyway Jim is well known on the river and has many years under his belt with the flyrod. Brian  landed a lot of fish today and will be out in the AM with me. Mike Clark fished in the other boat today with Criss Boyer and they really got into the browns. I think they landed 7 browns today along with a few steelhead and will also be out in the AM to try it again. The fishing continues to be fantastic and this week coming up looks like it is going to be perfect for steelhead fishing so give us a call and come play with our giant rainbows.

Jan 18

Ok guys the river hasnt been touched the last few days and its going up to the 30s this week so come on up there are fish everywhere. I have been on the road ice fishing the last few days ,THE SNOW HAS MADE IT TOUGH TO GET TO THE RIVER ,Fishing should be on fire this week. We have tue, wed, thru, fri, of this week open so give us a call. also if your into ice fishing Onieda lake has been hot for Walleye and big mongo perch, dont miss out ,we also offer guided Ice fishing trips from St Law to Sodus Bay. Wally, perch, pike, bass, you name it we catch it under the ice.

JAN 9

The fishing has been outstanding as long as you hit it hard, The bite can be on and off during the day but at somepoint you should light them up. there are fish everywhere and your crazy for not coming up and droping a line, I meen its just about as good as it gets. So get up here . The bead wins again today, it has out fished the eggs on every outting so dont be afraid to fish them I know BLA BLA BLA you have all heard it before , but its the truth OK TAKE A LOOK AT THIS WALLEYE AND SEE IF YOU CAN COME UP WITH WHAT IS MISSING ON IT. The ice fishing is also on fire up and down the eastern shore of the big lake ALONG WITH THE INLAND LAKES IN THIS AREA.

We are offering a few ice fishing dates so give us a call for more info,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and we also have steelhead dates available

JAN 4

I am back folks , wow its been a crazy month. Me and Doc traveled to WISCONSIN to fish the NAIFC (north American ice fishing championchips) championchip and had a great time we landed somewhere in the middle of the pack ,not from a lack of trying just a lack of luck. We landed our limits by 9 in the mornin but just couldnt keep the ones on that would have made the difference . Mabe next year. We meet alot of nice folks up there and hope to make the trip again .NOW LETS GET TO THE RIVER. Fishing the last few days has been on and off with the fronts moving in but there are loads of fish all over the river. this past week many guides reported 20 plus fish trips. So we will be back at it and we have open dates so give us a call,,, Happy Hollidays folks

DEC 4

Weather has been stable over last few days so fishing has been fair to good, lower and upper river fishing well. There is a cold front coming in over next few days so the morning bite may be slower.Same old baits and technics. We have some open dates for DEC, 17-18-19-20-21. I will be off on an ice fishing tourny the next week so no reports have a great week.

Nov 29

The bite has been on and off with all the fronts moving in, but the good news is the are plenty of fish threw out the river and we managed to find a few metalheads for my guests over the last few days. The river has been very busy over the weekends so if you can try and make your plans for the week days, it will make your trip.

November 22

Just back from the cast and blast down at the Oak Orchard river area. It was a good trip with many big browns and rainbows and no water the first 2 weeks, as every thing else the browns were a few weeks behind and low water didn't help . We did manage to find fish in a few areas and as long as we fished hard we were rewarded ,we did have a few hard days but we stuck it out and made the best of it. The weather was unusualy warm most of the time wich was nice but maybe not so good for the fishing. The canal started its water release a little late this year, the 15th of nov and with this release came a push of fish from the lake so fishing is good right now and water levels are also. We look forward to this trip every year and want to thank all of you for joining us again and look forward to seeing you all next trip. We started this trip with 2 people for a weekend trip years ago and it is now grown to 60-70 men, woman and children for nearly a month and with the addition of the cast and blast it has been a great success, we have to thank Tommy at Baker Farms for The great pheasant preserve and hundreds of acres of prime deer habitat. He has made this trip a true sportsmans package. Where can you go for a few hundred dollars and fish ,bird hunt and deer hunt all in the same place.

Deer Hunts

Weather was terrible for the first day of the opener .Wind and driving rain kept most of the deer under cover. The guys that stayed in there stands did see deer and a few harvested. Day 2 was a little disappointing. The weather was ok but most clients did not stay in there stands long enough to warm there seats never mind see any deer movement. Tommy has a few rules while in the stands and there mainly for safety purposes. Like dont get out of your stand for any reason until you call us. Well some of these guys felt that doing a little still hunting right through the bedding areas was ok. Or getting out and walking all around the stands and stinking up the area would be a productive way to hunt. Tommy really works hard to place his 30 plus stands in the most productive areas. I believe these guys where used to hunting an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, so they really didnt help themselfs by getting out of thier stands at 9am and again they were out before dark most of them anyway. The day before shotgun opener we had a bow hunter in the stand that called in a monster buck, said he stopped counting after 12 points and he was somewhere in the 150-160 inch class. Well he took the shot but hit him low and we tracked for hrs and miles before we had to give up. We tracked him to private land the night before shotgun so the landowner did not want us on his property and we coudlnt blame him. We didnt think he was mortally wounded anyway but it made me sick to have to stop. The next day a 17 point 214lb buck shot right across the street along with a possible new NY state record (not confirmed)

This is Katie from farm next to Toms with her first buck during her first hunting season

good job Katie, thats what you can do if you stay in your stand...more pics coming ...

SalmonRiver

We will be back on the river Monday .The river is running a little high but will be coming down to 750 cfs. The steelhead are in every hole and the fresh fish are coming every day. Things look great for the winter steelhead season, Every year for the last 4 we have seen a jump in the number of fish in this river and this year looks to be no diferent than the last 4. Over the holliday season look to see less pressure on the Salmon River So that being said make your trip now, book a trip with us and stay warm in our HEATED DRIFTBOAT. The weather has been on the foul side here the last few days with snow and temps in the low teens at night, the bite should be more toward the late morning and early afternoon so sleep in , if the sun comes out look for it to change the bite. Same old baits are workin and same old holes are producing .

OK CAST AND BLAST GUYS DONT FORGET YOUR GUNS AND YOUR

SUNGLASSES , AND GIVE US A CALL THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR TRIP .

Fishing is picking up with the release of water and the rain over the last few days. I have lost my cell phone out in the deer woods putting clients in tree stands so I will not be returning phone calls till I get my new phone on wednesday the 19th. Call Ann at 315-298-4599. If you need to get ahold of me.The weather has made the first few days of shot gun down here slow but there wasc a few big deer taken. a new record for NY right across the street and a 17 point 214lb buck in the same area. We think it may be a buck that one of our clients shot at and missed the day before during archery. Well a few more days I will be back to salmon river for the great steelhead fishing .

w

NOV 12

NO CHANGE , FISHING UP AND DOWN ,DOSNT LOOK LIKE ANY RAIN TILL THE WEEKEND. We will be hitting the woods for the shotgun opener this weekend and of course we have rain coming in for that. The brown trout trip is winding down with a slower than aveage year at the oak orchard area we are looking forward to getting back to the sdalmon river , We have reports from some of our guide friends that steelhead fishing has been great .Folks if you are emailing us and not getting a responce it is because we arnt getting them ,please call us at 315-298-4599 we will be changing our address on the web ,,AOL HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR US AND OUR EMAILS. SO PLEASE CALL.   Here are a few pics of pauls mounts from last year man they will look good on the wall. The fantail is a small but fantastic looking mount, pic dosnt do it justice

NOV 5-9

Fishing has been up and down all week but we are getting rain as I type this report ,The crowds are crazy and the goons are really bad , gotta fight for 10 feet when water is low, DESPITE ALL THAT WE ARE CATCHING FISH . The push finnaly came today with lots of browns and steelhead, The deer are just about in full rut and its not long till shotgun starts , we will be posting some photos this weekend coming. Ok the salmon river is on fireok bed time with big crome coming in.

NOV 3-5,

Hello all I have been fishing and hunting hard and getting about 3 hr sleep a night so I will keep this short tonight and give a little more info soon as I get some time...Fishing has been up and down ,most creeks are not fishing due to low water. We have been fishing the same spot for a week now and have put some monster brownies on the bank, we could be catching better numbers but the fish we are catching are big slobers we cant complain most people are not catching at all ,the snaggers are out of control and the crowds are brutal in some areas , I have been getting to my spot at  3 AM JUST TO GET THE GOOD DRIFT.OK we are going to bed enjoy the fish porn and I will be back ...top right  12-13lb male .great fish harry

NOV 2--- DAY 2 OF MONSTER BROWN TRI

Great trip so far ,The fishing is good and the fish are big ,we have landed many browns over 10lb in the last few days and some great big rainbows along with them. Like everything else this year the brown trout fishing is behind a little bit we are seeing more and more fish every day but the run hasnt arived yet and I think when it comes it will come big. I have talked to other guides fishing some more popular streams and they are doing poorly to fair most days so I think we are doing well with the browns and rainbows we have be putting on the bank just take a look at the pics they speak for themselfs. I hear that we are going to get a little rain ,i hope thats true because we need it , A good rain and its on. Ok The last few days sonny and his dad have fished with us and Sonny has been top rod with 3-4  browns over 10lbs. and man this young man can handle a rod. John Sonnys dad has done a great job also with a few giants under his belt im sure they will be back..The boys will be hunting pheasant and jumping in the deer stands in the evening the deer have been on the move the last few days.. well here are the pics and there is more to come .......

Folks the fisihng is great and getting better , no time to post long report but will get 1 in sunday ,,, Sonny and Dad John fished with us today and did very well , SONNY lANDED A MONSTER 10 LB BROWN and played a few giants along with some nice rainbows OK MORE SOON,,,,,,,,,AND OH YEA FIRST NIGHT IN BOW STAND CALLED IN 4 BUCKS AND I TOOK A MANAGMENT BUCK.

OK FOLKS WE ARE AT THE OAK AND THE FISH ARE HERE, The conditions are fair with low water and cold temps. Things are looking a lot like last season and if that's the case that could be great because last year was the best year we ever had, we fished 3 areas today and covered 40 miles , we landed around 20 steelhead and browns today between 2 guys ,with only 4 hrs fishing time that's not bad . The fishing is starting to heat up with some big browns showing up and some early steelhead along with the rainbows. Now Tommy has plenty to keep us busy over the next few days , putting up tree stands and clearing shooting lane, He would like to let you all know he has a few spots to fill on the 2end week of gun , he is offering 3 days free if you do not get a shot at a deer ,,what guide will offer that. I think he has done his home work on this new parcel of land and its a no brain er so take advantage and book a deer hunt for the whole family ,you wont be disappointed  .

OCT 23

After a hard days work up in Alaska, the boy go out to play with the silver bullets. These are the perks of working out in the middle of no where, with the sun staying high in the sky well after midnight the fin addicts never sleep. Monty and John join me for a few hours of silver slammin on the Togiak River. FISH ON EVERY CAST AND A SMILE ON ALL OUR FACES. These guys were a blast to work with and even more fun to cast a fly with. OK back to Salmon River,  Salmon fishing has all but come to an end we still have a few green fish around but its getting very thin  the good news is steelhead and Browns are showing in force and we have been watching the floats go down the last few days. EVEN WITH THE LOW CLEAR WATER THINGS ARE HEATING up so book your fall steelhead now and don't forget the winter fishing is fantastic and the crowds are gone. THE CAST AND BLAST (brown trout trip) IS UPON US AGAIN and its looking great out there they have had rain and the canal is dumping already, so fishing should be looking up. I will be leaving here after my weekend trips to do some scouting as usual, so we have you on fish when you arrive, if its anything like last year we are in the money. I am very excited about this years trip with the added deer hunts and bird hunts, it will be a busy couple of weeks. Tommy has been calling me with reports on the deer movement ,,,all I can say is bring your bow....lol. If you are booked for the cast and blast please call me a few days before you come so we know you have all your info down. This applies to the guys who are just brown trout fishing to ,,,,you must call me . We will have the laptop computer with us out there so email me and let me know your on your way. Also we have a few spots open so if you want to bring a friend or 2 call us and we will see if we can get them in. We had a cancellation on the 14th-15th so these dates are available .

OCT 18

The Salmon have slowed a little in the upper reaches of the river. But are starting to trickle in from the estuary along with Steelhead and Brown Trout. Fishing pressure over the holiday really had an impact on the number of fish in the river. This has been a very strange year with good water and temps ok, there is no reason these fish shouldnt be here already. I took a ride down to the estary today and saw a few hundred coho waiting to make the spawning run . GUESS WE JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT... OK getting lots of call on the monster brown trip so if you want to join us call now. We have quite a few guys jumping up into the bow stands this season, we are looking forward to some great action on our evening hunts. Tommy says you are all in for a treat this year with this new piece of property he has been managing for the hunts. Just in while I'm typing this report, small push of Salmon and Trout from the estuary tonight. All you guys that open water perch fish there in and there hungry up north ,,,you know the spots,,,,,,

OCT 15

We are clearing out alot of the old reports to make way for the new design of the website .I will be posting up some of the pics that have been up in this months reports  along with some newer photos, Now about the weekend,,, all I can say is WOW what a crazy 3 days we had , it reminded me of the old days when they bussed them in by the hundreds . There were people shoulder to shoulder in every hole ,and I am talking every hole. These fish never had a chance with the low clear water thay were easy targets. We had great fishing up to the holliday weekend than it slowed down a little today. Kings are fadding fast with not many fresh kings rolling in its a good thing we have plenty of sleelhead and browns to foucus on. This has been a strainge year. With kings in the upper end fishing has been outstanding but mid river has slowed without any freshies. There are reports of kings still out in the lake and I tend to think that this is true but weather they come or not is anyones guess. We are starting to float fish and we are seeiong a good number of crome already in the upper end  so break out the pins and pray for rain to keep the crome coming ,,,,OAK ORCHARD  they are letting out water from the canal already and this will no doubt pull in the brown trout and rainbows so things look great so far for our anniual monster brown trout trip (cast and blast)....so polish your floats guys and get ready to rock em.....I have already gotten so good reports of some big browns beeing caught ..,,, ok back in a day or 2 with pics....

This could be you ,  these are the average fish we catch on our anual monster brown trout trip ,We have a great number of clients that fish with us year after year on this fantastic trip to Oak Orchard area .The browns are giants , but we also catch lots of domestic rainbows between 4-15 lbs, then there are steelies mixed in with them, and if thats not enough to keep the aveage sportsman busy how about shooting a few pheasant and chucker . This is the time of the year when every thing comes together and for the all around sportsman or even the guys who cant get away 2-3 differant times durring the year this trip is for you ,its all in 1 nice package.  ( Tommy and chriss at  Baker farms)  1-585-590-2948, have really put there best foot forward to keep our clients happy and they have become part of our extended family . Give us a call for more info on this trip ....you dont want to miss out...315-298-4599

The monster brown trip went off with a bang. This years trip was the best yet with many huge browns and rainbows caught and lots of pheasant taken. We also ended the trip with a few deer hunts , even with the low water conditions the fish were there , we had to change tactics a bit but it worked out with many big browns and rainbows coming to the net. This trip has become some what of a social event Thanks to Tom over at Baker farms we now have a great place to gather and do all them things that fisherman and hunters do. He has opened up the farm to us and the hospitality is great, All the kids caught fish and shot birds and will be back next year , we will be adding some deer hyuts this year , The opener of shot gun was a blast , Tom had his stands ready for his clients and all of them had an opportunity to shoot , 11 hunters took 5 deer on the opener   a few of the younger guys(first time hunters) had cases of buck fever but had a great time 1 young man saw something like 11 deer , I myself took a doe and passed on a very nice 8 point that was taken by Toms client Annie from Vermont it was the biggest deer taken , she was thrilled as all of us were , so all in all this trip of ours has turned out to be a regular sportsman's getaway. i will be posting the dates for the MONSTER BROWN TRIP SOON and we will be offering dates for hunting deer and pheasant. If you missed it this year you wont want to miss it next year. We have some great ideas for next season and you wont want to miss it . I will be taking bookings on this trip soon so you can all set up your lodging and hunts. Tom at the fair haven inn also will be accepting bookings early for next season. Well I'm on the river this week , we landed 3 for 9 today ,they got the best of us . We would like to thank Tom and his family for there hospitality at the farm , Tom also raises turkeys and pheasants for the table so give them a call 585-590-2948  . Dont forget there hunts are fully guided with dogs and they also cater to the do it yourself hunters who wish to hunt there own dogs . I

Fished with Scott and Mark from Jersey the last few days. It was there first time fishing up in this neck of the woods. Scott had never been trout fishing at all so this was going to be a treat for him for sure . Well first cast in the morning brought in a 5 lb brown trout and it was on from there. The morning have been great the last few days but by 10 am it is like a light switch goes off . Browns are finally dropping eggs , even with the great fishing we have had the big push still isn't here yet The canals haven't drained yet so we are waiting for that to happen and when it does look for some killer fishing for a week straight . The guys I have talked to are catching good numbers but are not catching many male fish browns , Tom Baker (BAKERS PHEASANT PRESERVE) has been great to us this year with plenty of birds at a price you cant believe and the hospitality has been 5 star. We will be offering these packages next season and I think the price will be the same so when you book for your monster brown trip (08) don't forget to book your pheasant hunt or tower shoot (80 birds released from tower) man what a blast. The Salmon river is on fire folks call and book a trip we have dates available.     315-298-4599-       CELL#315-391-5721

Finally some time for pics and report. It has been a fantastic week with lots of giant browns and rainbows and many steelhead and salmon .We are spending most of our time over at the oak this year basically the only river with flow, We did fish a creek that is not well know and we absolutely crushed them under the float and free lining sacks without weight. The conditions are the same on most creeks the rain we have had made little difference to them ,however they are draining the canal so a few creeks are up and have fish. What a difference a year make this time last year the browns were almost done spawning this year they are just starting to hit the gravel , we have been catching more steelhead than rainbows the last 2 days along with big numbers of hen brownies in still skeined up. The high light of our trip so far is Paul's FANTAIL RAINBOW that was caught sat the 10 Nov just 2 days after his 15 lb brown trout man he has had a great trip Paul and his friend harry stay with me for a week and do some serious fishing and pheasant hunting while they are here. We also get in a few nights in the tree stand with the bow thanks to TOM BAKER OF OWNER OF BAKER FARMS where we hunt the pheasants and chuckers, and he also has over 20 deer stands on 500 acres of managed deer property. I sat in a stand the night of the 10th and called in 2 buck with the grunt tube and 1 was only 10 yrds from me just no shot. We still have one more week up here and the best is yet to come. I have more steelhead dates available folks so give us a call and book your trip ,The SALMON RIVER is on fire along with the OSWEGO RIVER both are chuck full of fish and everyone is catching but the driftboat guys are really doing very well.  Anyone wanting to book for browns next season please dint wait call us now and book your dates they are already booking faster than I thought. We have such a great time on this trip everyone comes back its a big social event everyone gets together after fishing and hunting and we have a blast at dinner or we get a little card game going ,what ever we do we have fun doing it. well gotta go get in the tree stand. check out the pics

Fishing has been fantastic for us , all clients are catching big fish this season. I have been changing around the game plan a little the low water ,most of our fishing has been in the holding water of course with this lower water they are reluctant to run the creeks so they are holding in the estuaries and lower parts of the rivers and creeks. We have been using egg sacks and 1/32  jigs under 1 gram floats or even free lining them. The weather is getting colder and the creeks are up a little but we are behind as far as the spawning of the browns are concerned the bulk of the fish arnt here yet. The Oak is fishing spottier at best but the good news is the fish we do catch there are in great shape ands big. We will continue to bring you pics and up to date reports from the oak for another week and a half. Paul has been fishing with me a long time along with his friend Harry , Paul has finally landed his wall mount , A giant brown trout .official scale said 15 on the nose, what a pig . I am sorry for the blurry pics but picture was taken with another camera and it can be adjusted so when I get a chance I will fix it up . well more to come I haven't even posted the last 2 days pics yet .

winter finally here, winds are howling and snow flying Fishing has been great for us over the last few days with many hugh browns coming to the net along with many rainbows and a few steelhead. The flow has been so slow we have been free lining egg sack and only using 1 gram floats but it seems to be working We are finding our bigger browns in holding water they are waiting for water to rise a little more and they will be on there way its very behind this season along with everything else. I have been over to 18 mile and its still low and crowded. check out big brown in the next report

11/4

Sorry once again for the slow report but the wireless is a pain in the u know what. This is the first time I have been able to post in a few days so here it is . Fishing has been good for us for the most part we found fish every where we looked but staying on them was another story we concentrated on the Oak for a few days with good numbers in the am but slower in the afternoon and man the water is so low and clear you really have to put the lite gear to the test. I checked on a creek that we used to fish a lot in the past with great success but the last few years has been unsuccessful and to my surprise it was chuck full of monster browns and rainbows as you will see in the pics, I couldn't believe it they were jammed together like cord wood. The guys had a great day today with many fish in the double digits, These fish were in water that was not moving at all so fishing was challenging to say the least. but rewarding none the less . no split shot and single eggs have been the ticket along with a a stealthy approach to a pool , any motion at all will send them packing down stream so lite line and stay out of the river at all cost. The oak and Burt dam both have good numbers and lots of people . The DEC opened the Burt dam to snagging over the weekend so the could get the eggs that they badly needed after the salmon some how disappeared out of the hatchery(loll) its a shame they start the little rumors and people actually believe them there not fooling anyone we know what happed to the Kings that were up there in Sept. That's for another time I guess . So it boils down to the fact that even with low water we can find the fish we just have to work a little harder .We had Ricky Martin and his crew up here along with Tony and Nick (dad son) for a few days with there 12 gauges and there centrepins they put on a good show after they landed a few nice browns and rainbows the joined Tom Baker of Baker Farms for a tower shoot. I tell you what they had a blast shoot them pheasant . There were 7 guns and over 80 birds flying down from the tower , what a blast ,feathers every where. OK gotta go to bed ,,,guys call me about your trips 315-298-4599

10/31

We are starting our trips in the AM and things look good as far as fish coming in. I just wish we had more water, the fish are stacked out in front of all the creeks.. waiting patiently to enter there home waters to spawn. We were out again this morning playing and landed a dozen fish up to 12 lbs not bad for a few hours. then we found ourselves over at BAKER FARMS PHEASANT PRESERVE for a 2 hour shoot on Tom Baker the owner also meet up with the local D.E.C. officer Richard Rauscher and his brother who were also working there dog and shooting a few birds .Ok its time for us to hit the rack . Be back

10/30

We are finding some nice browns and steelhead in a few creeks but the water is very low making it challenging. We are out fishing the Oak in the am and we start our trips on the 1st so we will be posting pic and reports so you can all keep track of the trip. I hope we get a little rain (man that sounds like the same old song) but we need it some creeks down here have no flow at all fish are in the lake waiting for a trickle. We did land a few nice browns and a nice rainbow today so here is 1 pic for ya ,,, more to come

10/29

we have arrived at the Oak , The water is low in most of the creeks but fish are showing up , We made a stop at a creek that hasn't fished well over the last few years and found hundreds of big brownies and fresh coho salmon, there isn't much flow which makes the fishing tough but we did manage a few nice fish.I will be out and about in the AM looking for more territory to fish over the next few weeks. I will be heading over to Burt dam to check out the new wall that was put in over the summer ok if your coming up to the Oak drop me a line before you come. WE STILL HAVE A SPOT OR 2 OPEN SO GIVE US A CALL. 315-391-5721.BE BACK

10/28

Well folks we ended our salmon season over in Oswego with Mike Clark and We ended with a bang. Mike went home happy and we are off to The Oak Orchard area for our annual monster brown trout trip. We will be doing something different this year and posting real time reports from down there with the help of our new WIRELESS LAPTOP COMPUTER so we are looking forward to a great trip with great action and great pics to go with it. Well I'm off I'm the early hours for a 2 day scouting trip on the way down so we will post pics from last trip when we arrive down there .We would like to thank our salmon fishing client for having faith and fishing and fishing in these low water conditions this season . We did well on all our trips and limited out and more on most . Hopefully we have better conditions next season so we can get back to our style of fishing .

10/23

Rain over the CNY area is holding steady and starting to fill the reservoirs . The fishing on the salmon river has been spotty in the upper reaches of the river over the last few days , The river is up to 350 cfs in hopes of drawing the kings to the hatchery for the egging process , We fished the upper river this morning where the kings should be up on the gravel and there were hardly any fish to be seen at all from Altmar  bridge to wire hole we had 2 fish on and that was it.We made our way down to the lower river and hooked a few more but all in all a very slow morning , I did make my way down lower at around 4 pm after receiving a call from a guide friend of mine and when I arrived the water was boiling with steelhead and fresh silver kings we must of hooked 80 fish in less than 2 1/2 hrs ,it was awesome and of course the clients were long gone. The kings were all in great shape and tight skeined and the steelhead were just ballistic as usual. Just cant believe the amount of kings coming in and no spawning activity up in the normal areas or at least very little spawning going on up there. The Oswego is fishing well and the water after today will even out a little , it has been up and down a lot lately. I have a few more trips before we leave for the monster brown run so we will be posting more reports and pics . I will also have my laptop computer with me on the trip out to the oak orchard area so you can email me directly or call the cell # 315-298-4599 . Everyone who is fishing the brown trip must call 24 hrs before there fishing date for place and time to meet. Looking forward to a great trip this season. We also still have some steelhead dates available in November and December so drop us a line

DAY 2,

The boyz started off slow this morning but things picked up around 9.30 am with a good push of kings and steelhead coming threw. The river was much more crowded and the weather was much warmer than the day before but that didn't slow the fishing down we played many fish and the boyz had a great time as usual. We have a good soaking rain coming threw at the moment and I think the river will come up in the am along with the creeks. The fish we were catching in the late morning were fresher fish. We only have a hand full of salmon trips before we head off to the monster brown run If any one would like to book a salmon trip give us a call there are fresh salmon coming in and they will be fishing salmon well into November along with steelhead ,this will be a bonus for the steelhead guys so take advantage and book a trip . Also need all you guys that are coming with us on the monster brown trip to copy this number down and give us a call a day or so before you leave 315-391-5721 my cell make sure you call us if you have any change of plans, we have a few spots open to fit a few guys in Nov 11- 14-15-room for 1 -4 guys

10/18

Steelhead steelhead steelhead . last few days good runs of crome coming up the Salmon River I just wish the water was higher because they are easy prey at this point for every surf rod toting cooler filling Neanderthal out there, now I know this isn't you but they do exists take for instance the guy in Douglaston who put 3 steelies on his stringer and claimed he thought they were salmon.  I think this happens more than we think maybe we should hold a 3 day class on fish identification and stream etiquette before you can enter the stream to fish(LOL) well enough ranting we did well today with the boys from Mass again . They have joined us again for 2 days of Salmon and steelhead fishing todays fishing was steady with kings on the move most of the day and small pods of crome moving threw only saw 1 brown hooked up in the last 2 days but CROME are showing in good numbers . Still have fish in the lake can you believe that , amazing i think, well we will post part 2 of the boys from Mass tomorrow

Richie(top rod today) with his personal best and partner Jim with his best smile yet(LOL)

10/15

Fishing continues to get better as the temps fall at night and some rain has fallen in the area. The creeks are Finlay flowing allowing salmon to enter them in good numbers and it looks like more fish are coming into the salmon river every day , there are still big numbers of fish in the estuary . I would think that most will be moving into the river this week to find some gravel to do there thing now that the water is cooling down. I also have seen a jump in the steelhead Numbers this weekend and think November is going to be a fantastic month with many salmon still kicking around this will be a bonus for the steelhead bums we may even see a few coho around in early December , wouldn't that be a blast. well just a theory but we will keep our eye on it the next few weeks .Its almost time for the monster brown trout trip so all you guys and girls make sure you all have everything you need and all your reservations taken care off. Fished very hard over the last 4-5 days with many clients landing some great fish here are a few pics for you. the a look at the crazy crowded conditions on Sat and sun.

10/10

finally a good push of kings over the last 2 days. I would think the water temps and rain may have helped this a little . We have been fishing the ballpark area the last few days with good numbers of fish coming to the net. The Holiday weekend was almost unbearable with all the goons running a muck but things will change over the next week or 2, crowds will thin a little with hunting season upon us. Today Bill and his wife Jan joined me for a old fashioned king bashing and all went as planed Jan was hooked up first with a small jack and Bill followed with a giant lb king they were hooked never put the rods down all day and played many fish. With good numbers of kings coming by us all day most folks had there rods bent and stringers full. oh yea mo rain coming

10/8

Fishing remains the same with low water and fish trickling in .We are still fishing the lower Salmon river for fresh kings and coho , some days are better than others but we are catching fish every trip. I am really missing Oswego the last few days we are always there on the holiday weekend to get away from the crowds but there just hasn't been enough water maybe with the rain we that feel today water may come up over there. The crowds will start to thin a little over the next week but the fish will still be coming in, I believe into November . The waters out west are dong fine at the moment so brown trout trips will be on schedule . Today we fished ball park again and lost more than we landed but yesterday was the reverse. I cant wait till November I hear them big browns calling me. Oh yea if you are fishing with me on the monster brown trip and haven't made your lodging reservation you better get on it. I tell all of you to do it early but you know what happens (busy busy busy) call captains cove (585-682-3316, new owners) or Fair haven inn 585589-9151) dont forget to use my name . I'm looking forward to our cast and blasts, and sitting in the tree stand a few nights down there on Baker Farms preserve.....WELL TIME TO SLEEP

BELOW ARE PICS OF A FEW CLIENTS OVER THE LAST 2 DAYS, GREAT TIME WITH ALL CLIENTS THIS WEEK DESPITE CROWDS (LOL)

10/2-3

fish are making there way up river even in the lowest water conditions I have ever seen this time of year. The kings are starting to show and are in good condition considering the low and warm water. We are looking at 75-80 s this week and not much rain in the forecast so weather is great for being out on the river but not salmon fishing weather at all. There has been some very nice trout caught over the last few days , we have stopped fishing in Oswego at the moment due to the water only running 300 cfs or less . George and Bill joined me today along with there family and friends, it was a new experience for them fishing in a crowded pool. We were at our spot at 3.30 am along with a guide friend(Harry Powers) and his clients from salmon heaven. At 6 am they came out of the woodwork and charged our hole and between the guy who walked right into the hole with 20-30 fish in it to the guys that decided that it was OK to fish where ever thay pleased which meant right on top of all our client in the hole we had been standing over fore 3 hours ,where do they come from and what the heck are they thinking . So today we looked for some quieter water to break in some newbies to fishing the SALMON RIVER. We landed a few fish but had many on and most people did well around us and all were respectful and that was a breath of fresh air. BACK AT IT IN THE AM. HERE ARE SOME PICS

9/30

Mike and his crew joined us again this year for some fishing over in Oswego . With conditions much different than last season,,, low, warm water we knew fishing could be a challenge and the boys were up for it ,Mike brought a few newbies with him from Ohio and they were rewarded with a few nice fish. We landed some nice kings and a few very nice rainbows .The biggest rainbows of there lives I might add. Saturday we fished Oswego again with about the same luck kings and rainbows with a few browns in the mix but we unfortunately had to end a marathon sun up to sundown trip at noon time after they turned the turbines off , just kick a guy when hes down  It is the only spot to fish with the drift boat except the mouth of the river at night. They ended there trip with a night run with some great action and a few fish boat to boot. I went to pick up clients this morning and to my disappointment they did not have any waders with them so I went fishing down at the black . and did well up to about 930 am when it shut down fishing this low clear water if challenging but not as challenging as the crowds on the weekends today was not so bad steady run of fish coming threw , browns also landed a few coho and a few steelhead lost a nice brown and hooked many kings ,,got me a little coho for the smoker it was a good morning except the one guy who had to fish my spot casting right over my line all morning he had his son with him and I think he was embarrassed as he should have been . There is no excuse for crowding I dont care how many fish are in a hole these are the same guys that leave there dam coffee cups and beer cans on the banks of the river. We really need to get on these jerks and if you have to embarrass them into picking up there junk. Say hey is that your junk buddy take it with you . You ask everyone about this and they say they do not leave anything behind but yet its filthy. PLEASE BRING A BAG OUT WITH YOU AND HELP US OUT UP HERE ,REALLY WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU DID THAT ,,,,IT WOULD HELP ALTO  ,,,THANKS IN ADVANCE     ((((((FISH PORN ))))))))

spawned out king already
